SKOL Birthday Party
Around thirty members gathered at the home of ari and Peter Wright to celebrate the 31 st SKOL birthday. Good food, good company, and of course good liquor, helpwd to make it a very enjoyable evening, and it was good to pass the time with friends old and new.
The Grieg Concert -4 th November
A concert of music by Grieg and other composers was held at the Usher Gallery in Lincoln to inaugurate the new Yamaha electronic piano.
It was a lovely evening enjoyed by several SKOL members, some who wore Norwegian National costume (Bunads)
Mortensaften -11 th November
A highly enjoyable evening was held in Horncastle for twenty SKOL members who enjoyed a traditional Danish meal of Andesteg and Ris al'mande beautifully prepared and served by Cristine at her pub, The Angel Inn.
After being well fed the party was entertained by our very own bingo caller, Victor, where the lucky winners won ducks and chocolates
The Seal watch at Donna Nook 19 th November
This event was again hugely enjoyed by all who attended it, especially the children.
The number of seals coming ashore to give birth and couple ready for next season increases every year. The seals appear oblivious to the RAF planes practising their low-level bombing runs along the beach, unlike the human visitors.
The Hull Seamans' Church Christmas market 25 th and 26 th November
The annual Christmas market was again extremely successful and profitable. Many SKOL members assist in this event helping to set up and work on the various stalls, and even more attend in order to buy a variety of Scandinavian food, Juledekoration, candles etc.
The church is now the only Danish church in England outside of London , and the Christmas market is its main source of funding.
Julebord 10 th December
Julebord was again held at the home of Lynne and Birger af Rosenborg, and once again was very enjoyable.
26 members enjoyed a sumptuous feast of traditional Danish food, aquavit and Carlsberg.
Thanks are due to Lynne, Birger, Edith and all others who contributed to a great evening.
Juletraesfest 27 th December
This popular event, enjoyed by both the young and the not-so-young was again held at Wragby town hall.
After eating we danced around the Christmas tree, singing traditional Scandinavian Christmas songs and carols, then played some games (bro bro brille !) before, to the delight of all Julemanden made a surprise appearance with a joyful Ho! Ho! Ho! and gifts of Godteposer for the children. For the children the day finished with a game of pass-the-parcel while the adults relaxed a little.

We were 17 children and 23 adults braved the wintery weather, which shows the popularity of this event.
